How to get centered in the midst of chaos…

With my father’s recent life-threatening situation, many people have asked about how I can stay so remarkably centered and focused in the midst of such an ultra challenging and uncertain time.

And that answer to that question is something that is more close and dear to my heart than just about anything I teach or talk about.

Let me tell you a story…

I was born in 1982, which makes me 27 as of today. For some of you, that might come as a shock that someone so young could build a 7-figure business so quickly (there’s a clear reason for this…which I will explain later in this story).

You see…

Growing up, my parents practiced things that seemed totally BIZARRE and FOREIGN to the western world. They would eat vegetarian meals, chant Sanskrit mantras, talk about the expansion of consciousness…

… and meditate for hours every day.

And boy, did people think it was weird.

Yet there was something funny that people just couldn’t put their finger on. Even though my parents did these strange and unorthodox things, they were so kind and supportive…they would embrace you, they would comfort you, and they would take care of you.

And it didn’t stop there!

They stood for these practices and this way of life. My father joined forces with Deepak Chopra, authored 12 books, and became one of the world’s leading experts for integrating mind-body medicine into our western paradigm.

My mom devoted her life to being an influential part of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement, and taught every person she could about how to find inner connection and peace.

… Not to mention that she was an exceptional mother who focused her energy on raising me with these tools and practices as a daily part of my life.

You see, they were both so utterly focused on bringing these tools to the world in an easy-to-embrace, easy-to-digest way.

And mind you…

This was WAY BEFORE any of this was even close to being accepted. It’s a little difficult to comprehend, but really get that there were no yoga studios in every town, magazines weren’t talking about the life-changing benefits of meditation, and being a vegetarian was almost like a rebellion.

Yet what my parents did exceptionally well, and trained me to do even better, was to take foreign, new, seemingly hard to understand and embrace concepts and tools, and translate them in a way that people could easily digest and absorb.

… to take things that most thought they could (or would) never do, and show them how easy it could be to integrate them into life and experience profound mental and physical breakthroughs.

So this became my focus.

I would learn new tools, sit with different masters, and have new experiences… and then I would FOCUS on discovering the most powerful and precise way to make this wisdom more easily accessible to the people around me.

In a strange way, I’ve always known that this was my purpose in life…To make it easier for people to assimilate great knowledge and wisdom.

So when I became the YOUNGEST instructor in the history of The Chopra Center while building their products division into a multi-million dollar business, I was known as “the mini David Simon.”

Funny…that used to bug me….but now it seems like the greatest honor of all times.

And this is where I trained thousands…

Through my time as the lead educator at the Chopra Center, I helped people from all around the world to learn the tools and techniques that would change their lives forever…

… I taught people how to quiet their endless mind chatter and experience new levels of clarity and focus.

… I showed people how to connect to a space inside that was free from limitations and old stories.

… I gave people direct access to their field of pure potential, where they could easily manifest their deepest intentions and desires.

… I helped people to feel comfortable and satisfied in their body, in ways they had never been before.

And I was no exception…

Every day, I would use these very same tools, without fail, no matter what…

And when it came time for me to leave my nice comfortable job at the Chopra Center to start my own business and take the leap into total uncertainty, I used these tools to keep me calm.

As I struggled, and struggled, and struggled in my first years of my business and watched as my life savings drained down to nothing because of poor choices and a lack of knowledge about how to be successful as an entrepreneur, I used these tools to keep me in a space of trust and moving forward.

And as I finally locked into my unique genius, my life purpose, and my business started accelerating at such a pace that quite frankly scared me because of how fast things were moving, I used these tools to remain open and focused, taking one step forward at a time.

Now I don’t talk about it very much, but I believe without a question of a doubt that the tools are the FUNDAMENTAL ingredient for my success as an entrepreneur.

Because they give me the power to move forward, even when everything feels intensely uncertain. Because they give me the clarity to make right decisions, quickly. Because they give me a sense of calm and peace, even though the world around me is seeming to reflect a different perspective.

I’m sharing this with you because…

Later on this week, for the first time ever, I am going to sharing these tools with you in a new program I created called “Get Centered Fast.”

In my eyes, this is a truly one-of-a-kind body of knowledge that has drawn from my years of experience as a teacher at The Chopra Center and my experience of becoming a successful entrepreneur.

It is the perfect tool for the busy mind, who never has enough time, and is always looking to accomplish more.

… and the best news is that I am making it truly accessible to EVERYONE, regardless of your current financial state. This knowledge is too important to hold back…

The complete details will show up in your inbox soon, assuming you are an inside member of this tribe (you can sign up at the very top of this page if you are not).

I believe this is something that will benefit you in the deepest and most profound ways…and I look forward to seeing you thrive with this support.

This program is now available for you. Click here to check it out…

Much love,

Max

    Max,

Even if I believed that your SOld out seminar events was one of the greatest things that happened in my life, I never thought you would touch me in so many ways. As I am writing now, I just received a call from my sister saying that my mother is in intensive care. And reading your blog felt tike you were just talking to me. Please, Max, help me get centered, although in a way you already have, for the inner joy, gratitude and focus I felt in your many activities, especially in yoga, gave me glimpse of the life I want to live.

I know your tribe, my San Diego tribe, is with me now. Please pray for my mom. There are so many things we still need to do together!

Max, you deserve the world…thank you for being there at this time, when I really need all the love in the world…

  4. Max,
As the caregiver to my 93 year old wheelchair bound mom for the past 15+ years (She had a stroke in 1994, and I also cared for my dad with Alzheimer’s for 7 years) and an entrepreneur, …oh & did I mention I broke my leg 6 weeks ago!…I always seem to be moving at Mach 5 & my mind is always “on”

Finding a way to get more centered sounds great!

@Luz: Sending healing thoughts to you, your mom & your family.

    Peace!

    Liz

  8. Right on the same page. I have such a full plate, I never comment here, though I look at every video and read every blog and get a lot out of your words, Max. This week I was in a car accident (not my fault), and while laying in the emergency room (not seriously hurt) I had a moment to delve deep within and ask what this was all about. I got the message that I need to resume my meditation practice – just started back up again last night & this morning – already feel so much better. Would love to hear what your practice is, Max. Thank you and many blessings!

This sounds like the perfect tool at the perfect time. I’ve been struggling to prioritize “me” time in an increasingly busy and difficult stage of my life. That “me” time being the time allow myself to slow down, turn off the chatter, let my shoulders drop, and meditate. If there’s a tool to get me there more efficiently I’m open to it. Thanks for sharing yourself and your experiences yet again. Peace and hugs!

    Hi Max,

I am in the worst financial situation,I’ve ever been in ,in my life. And I am amazed how I am handling this. But like you said,I know, that it is because of all the years of practise. I am so grateful for this moment, that instead of panicking or being depressed I am feeling calm and peaceful and knowing that things will get better.I am looking forward to your new program, because I can always learn more.Thank you.

    YES YES YES! :)

  12. Liana Carbon says:

Max, I[’m probably the same age (more or less) as your parents. I’ve been vegetarian since 1972, and raised my daughters to be vegetarian too. I started TM when Deepak was still with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and so I know the basis of what you are saying. And like some of the other commenters, I’m currently in my worst financial nightmare possible, and through it all keep trusting Spirit will provide, even though every day the money goes down and none comes in. I’ve wanted to take so many of your programs and could not afford to do so. But it’s time to bite the bullet and figure out why there is a disconnect between what I say I believe about Spirit, and what is truly happening in my life. Totally open to receiving your wisdom. Thank you!

  15. Brian says:

I could definitely use more centeredness Max. My life is in significant flux as I work to radically shift my business model and of course my life so that it is in complete alignment with my values and my strengths. I need all the guidance I can get on making this happen.

  16. Mark says:

    Great story!

  17. Anna says:

Can’t wait for them. Mini David Simon – love it.

    Thanks. X

  18. Margot says:

Dear Max, the only thing is: You should not share those tools yourself as you are not authorized to do so by Maharishi and his movement. To make money with it this way is immoral. Maharishi himself has trained and authorized teachers and now his Transcendental Meditation movement does that, see http://www.tm.org. Max you would not want others to use your material that you put took much trouble to produce forth without your authorization. That would be an infringement of the copyright law. The TM movement wants to safeguard that the TM technique and advanced programs are taught in a way that those techniques and the theoretical knowledge to explain them and this way their effectiveness are kept pure and unalterated. One does no do that. I apprecite your other programs – but please don#t do that. Don’t offer the TM technique and related programs. That’s against what the Maharishi would want. Love, Margot

  19. Margot says:

I would like to add, that I really appreciate your other programs and bcame a membe because I am sincerely interested in them myself and although being a TM teacher I am not speaking for the TM organization. So plase see my sincere opinion above as that of a friend.

    Hi Max,

As always, it is a joy to read what you’ve written and reflect on our time together in San Diego. Yup, I learned wonderful stuff about putting on events…I learned even more about the value of putting on heart-centered events that touch people.

I love learning from you and always keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers…

And to Luz…sending healing energy to you and your family right now my dear. If there is something more I can to support you, let me know!

    Hi Max
I would love to hear your new course.
How is it different from other meditation courses (for ex. Sanaya Roman’s)?
I love reading your posts. as I miself lead courses, if I’ll be setisfied-all my students will hear about it.
I live in Israel :) and we defiantly need a to stay calm and centered…

All the best. keep on with your humor about “Serious” issues,

Another thing… It would be much more attractive if we could dounload the course, since we live in Israel, and it takes more time and money to recieve the product.

    Dear Max,
I honor you and what you do. You are a big part of me finding my way. Thank you for being real, you are a great teacher. Blessings to you and your family. My site will be up by next month and it would never have happened if it weren’t for you and those amazing Out of Your Mind immersions. Julia’s breathwork, Russel’s wisdom. I have been struggling for far too long and that my friend is fading into letting go. Therein lies freedom.
