I was sold…masterfully!

If you are a SERVICE-PROVIDER that works with people one-on-one, you will LOVE this story!

Over the weekend, I took a mini-retreat to Ojai, which is a beautiful little town right outside of Santa Barbara. Ojai is known for being a healing place, so besides having a very soothing energy to the environment, there are a plethora of healers.

I went up there to get away from LA for the weekend, and to unwind and clear my mind before our SOLD-OUT event next week. I guess you could say that I was seeking some healing.

My first appointment was for a massage on Friday afternoon, where I got a really nice rub down from a place called “Angelic Touch Spa”. As I was walking back to my car in somewhat of a daze, a man walked out of the spa (that I was just in) and called my name.

The guy struck up a sweet conversation with me, saying that his office was in Santa Monica and that someone had told him that we needed to connect (not sure if that was just a line or actually true)….but regardless, it opened me up.

He told me that he was a “Healing Hands Practitioner”, which some form of energy work that I had heard of but never experienced. And then, he asked me the million dollar question, which was:

“What are you doing up here in Ojai?”

I told him that I had been working really hard lately, and with our big event next week, I wanted to get away,  clear my palette, and re-align.

He smiled, and said: “Well then, my service would be absolutely perfect for you because it will help clear away any funky energies and re-align yourself with your true self. How would you like for me to give you a session?”

How could I say no. He basically just told me that his service would privde me with EXACTLY what I just told him I wanted.

So we scheduled a time to meet the following day, and that was that.

Fast forward to Saturday and I show up for my session, not really knowing what to expect yet open to what’s going to unfold. Besides, he told me that he was going to give me what I wanted.

He lays me down on a message table and starts explaining his process to me (of which the details aren’t important). Then he says that we’re going to begin, and he start asking me questions about WHY I needed a retreat and WHY I was feeling out-of-alignment.

And before you know it, I’m talking about all sorts of really deep stuff relating to my past, my parents, my unconscious drive for success, and on, and on, and on.

WHOA…..that wasn’t at all expected. Sneak attack.

Then we go into silence, and he keeps “working with my energy” and saying things like: “This is going to be really powerful for you. As we do more sessions together, you’re going to clear out all of this stuff permanently.”

Did you catch that?

… as we do more sessions together.

This guys brilliant.

So we finish the session, and I do feel like I’ve gained some awareness about some deeper issues that I can now put some attention on shifting (besides, the first step to change is always awareness).

Did his energy work help? I’m not sure. But his process in the beginning was effective.

He goes on to reinforce how much he can help me move through some of the issues we addressed in future sessions, and asks when I would like to schedule those.

So I tell him, and we schedule more work together.

I was sold…masterfully!

Lessons from my dad’s brain tumor (part 2)

It’s about 9 pm on Tuesday night and it feels very important to write this personal note to you.

You see, I just returned home from the hospital after my father got his 8th MRI brain scan to look at the progress of his tumor.

To all of our great satisfaction

There is still no growth from the original scan….

Which in the world of brain cancer is great news, because no growth means no additional reason to worry.

Kind of ironic in the realm of business… right?

But I’m writing you this note, not because it has anything to do with your business, but rather because it has everything to do with your life and your relationships.

Because I’ll be honest…

I never expected this situation to arise.

I never thought my father, one of the world’s leading experts in mind-body medicine, and my greatest teacher, would get a brain tumor.

And I certainly had no clue that my life would change so dramatically in such a short period of time.

Which leads me to my point…

You might have a vision

In your mind about what your life, your business, your health, your relationships, or anything else is supposed to look like.

Which in some ways, is very healthy… To mentally create a picture of your ideal scene.

And on the other hand, it’s possible that your vision of what you “really want” is also preventing you from embracing, acknowledging, or simply enjoying what you already have right now.

How do I know?

Because for most of my life, I am starting to see that I have been that person.

The one who is always seeing that the grass is greener when I get to “the big show.”

I mean look, I’ll be the first to tell you…

I have strong desires.

Ever since I was a little kid, my mom used to look at my Astrological chart (she’s a world-renowned Vedic Astrologer) and tell me that it was one of my blessings and my curses.

I was just hungry to accomplish things in this world… and that desire still burns strongly inside of me to this day (for better or worse).

Yet being with my father as we go through this process together is slowly causing me to shift something in a deep way.

I mean, I still have the somewhat un-controllable passion to “create, create, create!”

But on another side, I’m understanding that this pattern never ends and you can always keep chasing “the next big thing”.

So we might as well begin to appreciate and enjoy what’s happening now rather than postponing to an anticipated future date.

And when I say this shift is happening slowly…

I mean it.

Because here’s the thing.

Each day, we are simultaneously “waiting” to see what’s going to happen next and ALSO doing our best to focus on enjoying what’s happening right now.

We do the best we can. Sometimes it’s incredibly emotional and painful…

… And other times it’s pure bliss.

And there’s not doubt in my mind… when I allow that to truly happen, to embrace and appreciate the good, the bad, and the ugly around what’s happening RIGHT NOW…

I see how divinely perfect it really is.

I’m probably saying this as much for me as I am for you…

No matter what you’re life looks right now; there is perfection in it.

… And see if you can be grateful for whatever it is.

Because we just don’t know how long we’re going to be here for or why any of this is truly happening in the big picture.

None of us know why were are experiencing what we’re experiencing or where it’s ultimately going to lead us…

But we do know that we have a choice, right in this moment, to pause and say: “I’m glad I’m still here.” And everything that’s happening is for my greater good and the greater good of others.

I just don’t understand it yet…

I mean look…

You or someone you love could wake up tomorrow with a brain tumor.

… And everything in your life would change in an instant.

Right?

So rather than waiting for such a radical transformation to occur in such a shocking manner, let’s all do our best to appreciate the good old-fashioned now.

No matter how beautiful or ugly, painful or blissful, abundant or scarce it is…

Because it’s all perfect. It’s all leading to our expansion. And it’s all good.

What do you say… I’ll keep reminding you if this eternal truth if you’ll do me a big favor and return the love in exchange.

Deal?

Please share your thoughts below…

Much love,

Max

My Un-Apologetic Reason For Sending Out So Many Emails (and why you should too)

Let me start by saying that I fully expect this raw & real post to ruffle some feathers…

In fact, I’m willing to just about guarantee a whole ton of un-subscribes from this note.

… But the reason why I’m ok with this lies within this note… and I’ve been meaning to share this for some time so get ready for something juicy.

ok?

I am often told that I send out too many emails

You’re right.

I do send a lot emails…I have no defense and I agree.

And consider this as another alternate perspective.

There is a passion driving deep within my soul to help big-vision entrepreneurs actualize their potential.

Every day, I wake up each morning bursting with new creative ideas about how to support you in exploding your dreams into reality, reaching millions of people with your message, and stepping into your biggest and most powerful self.

The energy that palpitates through my veins to help you impact more people, make a bigger difference, and influence the collective is downright overpowering at times.

Seriously, it often times makes it difficult to sleep.

So am I just sending you emails?

I don’t think so.

Because what I feel like I’m doing is sharing my heart and soul with you with the driving intention to inspire you to take action on your dreams, passions, and purpose.

I am doing everything in my power to give you the guidance, support, and learning lessons that have so deeply helped me in my journey.

And I am attempting to open you up to new possibilities and opportunities that might not have previously been available to you.

So I have to say, I can’t really look inside and see a problem with that.

Now do I always do a great job?

Truthfully… sometimes I fail.

Because the emails and words I send you do not resonate. They come across pushy. They seem like “every other email” in the sea of clutter.

I rarely see it while it’s happening, but I can spot it from a mile away in hindsight.

I get it… and I’m sorry.

But hey… I have to be honest, I kinda think that’s the life of a fearless and bold entrepreneur. Sometimes you strike the perfect chord and other times you miss the mark completely.

Is that true or is that true?

But here’s the important thing

I don’t speak to the people who are looking for every opportunity to prove that I’m a bad guy.

As I say in my teachings, that simply means “not a member of my tribe.”

Instead, I do my best to speak to those who feel me. To those who see me. To those who believe in me.

How do you know if that’s you?

Because you are doing the best you can, and know that others are doing the same.

Because you appreciate a well-written sales letter, a persuasive video, and a beautifully designed pitch.

And because you are striving to create your own business that moves people to action, inspires them to be bigger than their limitations, and models what it looks like to be an Enlightened Entrepreneur.

And I have to say, I’m OK if I…

… Push a few buttons.

… Say a few things that rile people up.

… Send out that one extra email to nudge you to take action.

Because I know that while many might get turned off, pissed off, or any other kind of off…

The person who needs to hear that most will get it, feel it, and finally make a choice to move in a new direction.

And that one decision could radically change their life forever.

… And that would just be wonderful… right?

Because Let’s Face It

Success does not come easy. It requires you to take leaps of faith. To face your fears. To try new things…

Constantly.

And if we’re being honest, we all need that one person who’s willing to push a little harder to get you over your resistance to do the thing that you might not ever done on your own accord.

That might just be the best decisions and choices of your life.

Right?

So Here’s The Thing…

Fortunately or unfortunately, for you to be that person for others probably requires that you have to be like me.

Which means you must be willing to OVER-COMMUNICATE that what you do works and why people need to do it now.

You must be willing to send out that one extra email, give that one extra push, and stand strong in the value and vision of what you do.

Not because you are trying to be annoying, squeeze out as much money as you can from people, or manipulate anyone into buying.

But because you believe so deeply in your mission and your desire to serve that you are willing to put aside your need to be liked and do what it takes to move people into action.

I know what you’re thinking…

“There has to be another way.”

“I don’t want to do that.”

“It’s just not me.”

… And here’s what I know to be true.

The “other way” is not finding a new tactic but instead shifting the energy behind it.

Shift your vantage point from a place of “I’m bugging people” or “I’m marketing to people“…

Into a space that knows deep inside: “I believe so deeply in what I do that I am giving people an opportunity to step up and transform.”

If you can’t believe this to be true about your own business, hear me loud and clear:

“YOU NEED TO CHANGE WHAT YOU DO!”

In this business of helping other people, you cannot have doubts, fears, and insecurities about your own value.

People will sense it, feel it, and abide by it.

You must be able to wake up every day and say: “I can change people’s lives!” “What I do is powerful!” “I am on a mission and I’m willing to speak it with power and conviction!”

And if that is not how you feel, it’s time for a shift.

In Closing…

I am sorry if you feel like I send out too many emails.

Because that unfortunately means that sooner or later you’re probably going to want to leave this tribe.

… And that makes me sad.

But not sad enough to stop me from sharing all the words, opportunities, and blessings that I believe would help you so deeply.

Much love,

Max

How To Stop Being Afraid Of Your Power In The New Year

When it really comes down to it, you know that the reason you are not as successful as you want to be is because you are afraid to do certain things, like…

… And still not be making the type of money you truly deserve because of the fear that paralyzes you from taking action.

You see, all of us (yes, all of us) fall into this trap in some way, shape, or form.

A Christmas Story (from a jew)

I didn’t think my life would look the way it does right now.

… My father has a brain tumor.

… I am living in the heart of Suburbia San Diego.

… I have 8 employees.

… And two cats.

In fact…

This time last year I was in Bali traveling throughout Asia on a whirlwind adventure with no boundaries.

… And I had a plan.

Because I have always been someone with good, solid, well laid-out plans.

Heck, I’m a strategist.

… That’s what I do best: make great plans.

What was my plan?

To build a company that allowed me to have freedom. To travel the world. To have no obligations to report to anyone.

Because in my mind…

… Freedom looked like not being confined to any particular place, any particular person, or any particular idea.

And I wanted to have this type of reckless abandon.

But then…

On my second day in Hawaii on my journey to nowhere, I got the news that my father, the neurologist, the world-renowned expert in Mind-Body medicine…

… self-diagnosed his own Gleo-Blastomoa brain tumor.

And with that single sentence, there went my plans.

So I moved back home.

… To San Diego.

… To suburbia.

… To be close to my dad and my family.

Because I realized something significant.

That Freedom has nothing to do with where you are.

Freedom has nothing to do with how much money you make.

Freedom has nothing to do with what you do even.

… Freedom has to do with how you feel.

And for better or worse

My father gave me something profound: the FREEDOM to feel more deeply than ever before.

… To feel love.

… To feel sad.

… To feel grateful.

… To feel pain.

Because these are the experiences of a human being.

And if you drop your plan, you’ll see that these experiences are profound. They are real. They are what life is all about.

So as you celebrate

This holiday season.

… Regardless of what religion or spiritual orientation you have.

… Regardless of how crazy, dysfunctional, or insane your family is.

… Regardless of what you have or don’t have.

Remember to feel life.

Because we don’t know how long we have. We don’t know what’s coming next. And we certainly don’t know what it all means.

But we do have an opportunity to be here now.

… And that’s beautiful.

Happy Holidays

Thank you for being in this tribe of Enlightened Entrepreneurs.

I feel honored, grateful, and blessed to share this journey with you.

… And I hope you liked my Christmas story (from a jew).

Much love,

Max
